Advisory Board

Ben Atherton-Zeman is a spokesperson for the National Organization for Men Against Sexism, a public speaker on issues of violence prevention, and the creator and performer of “Voices of Men,” a one-man play working to end men’s violence against women. For the past 17 years, Ben has worked as a prevention educator for rape crisis centers, domestic violence programs, and state coalitions. He is also an advisory board member for the White Ribbon Campaign in the United Kingdom.

Andy Atwood, Licensed Marriage Counselor, LMSW co-founded the Fountain Hill Center for Counseling and Consultation in 1974. He specializes in individual, couple, marriage, and organizational counseling. In addition, Andy provides family business consultation and succession planning.

Joe Ehrman is an ordained minister, professional coach, and community advocate. Following his 13-year career with the NFL, Joe became a tireless advocate for healthy approaches to gender and race, particularly in coaching boys beyond wins and losses, but into a healthy masculinity. He is the author of Inside Out Coaching and co-founder of Building Men and Women for Others.

Lisa Hoekstra Jansen, MD is a Family Practice and Urgent Care Physician in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Dr. Hoekstra Jansen has a PhD in Public Health and is a long-standing advocate in establishing sound public policy practices that increase the health and welfare of men, women, and families.

Dan Legerski, PsyD is a Licensed Psychologist in Edina, Minnesota where he has a private practice that specializes in sexual identity and orientation issues for young adults. Dr. Legerski worked for many years as a licensed social worker and is a long-standing member of the Minnesota Psychological Association.

Rob Okun has advocated for a social transformation of masculinity for three decades. Since 1997, he has been the editor of Voice Male, a pro-feminist, anti-violence magazine chronicling the social transformation of masculinities in the world today. Rob is the author of several books; his most recent being Voice Male: The Untold Story of the Profeminist Men’s Movement.

Robert Pasick, PhD Licensed Psychologist has specialized in issues facing men for more than 40 years. In addition to therapies for men, Dr. Pasick’s Ann Arbor, Michigan practice offers individual, family, and group therapy as well as executive coaching. The author of six books, his Awakening from the Deep Sleep is widely considered a seminal book on men’s issues as it pioneered the focus on men’s emotional development as a priority in their healing and personal growth.

Jenny Rodin is a Nationally Certified Intervention Professional at Hope Family Interventions in Southern California. Since 2008, she has provided recovery related services for individuals with an emphasis on family systems throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

David Matthew Rosen, PhD is a frequent writer, speaker, and teacher on masculinity whose contributions include The Changing Fictions of Masculinity (Illinois UP) and “The Volcano and the Cathedral: Muscular Christianity and the Making of Modern Primitive Masculinity” in Muscular Christianity (Cambridge UP). Dr. Rosen has served as president at Kendall College of Art & Design (Grand Rapids, Michigan) and at University of Maine-Machias, and as senior vice president at Woodbury University (Burbank, California). He holds a BA from Haverford College and a PhD from the Johns Hopkins University.

Jeff Schutte is Director of Sales Experience at Turnstone, a Steelcase Company. A philanthropist and community advocate, Jeff is also a member of The League of Extraordinary Coworking Spaces (LEXC), “a network of passionate, like-minded coworking space owners who choose to align business approaches that serve the growing population of mobile professionals who seek predictably delightful working spaces.” He is instrumental in promoting a respectful and conscious leadership approach in business environments.

Jeff Smith is the founder of the Grand Rapids Institute for Information Democracy, which has done education on gender representation in the media. He has also worked with the Kent County Sexual Assault Prevention Action Team, is currently involved in community projects with the Grand Rapids People’s History Project, Our Kitchen Table, Black Lives Matter, Justice for Ayotzinapa, and is a social justice trainer with Change U, a program offered through Grand Valley State University.

Amy Van Gunst, MA, LPC is the Executive Coordinator of The Fountain Hill Center for Counseling and Consultation offices in Grand Rapids and New Era, Michigan where she specializes in working with women, couples, and families both self-referred and court-referred; particularly in cases where domestic violence, sex addiction, or high conflict divorce has been identified. She has developed innovative group counseling programs for women’s empowerment and personal growth work.

George Zuiderveen is a retired psychotherapist. He practiced at Community Counseling and Personal Growth Ministries in Grand Rapids, Michigan where he facilitated a long-standing men’s counseling group. Throughout his career, George has been an advocate for men’s personal growth and transformation.
